Open Mike Night #45 - A New Look!

Hello Everyone,

Okay I confess, there's a reason I haven't been posting much on my Journal lately.  It's a good one though...I am very proud to announce the launch of my brand new website!

Yes, for many late nights my beautiful wife and I have been working on getting this website to be exactly what we wanted it to be.  No templates, no pre-packaged anything.  It's 100% built from scratch by yours truly.

It's packed with loads of new images from the past several months, and most importantly, it's in a format that is focused on the images.  It's clean, simple, and exactly what I've wanted for so long.

There are several people I want to thank for their support on this website and foremost is Leah for her patience, encouragement, and love.  Next is my excellent proof readers/spell checkers/quality control monitors/etc...my Dad and Mom.  Last and certainly not least is my buddy Michael for giving me the tools to accomplish this.  Truly, this website wouldn't have happened if it weren't for all of you-my wonderful clients-for trusting me to capture these wonderful moments of your lives.  Thank you!

Please visit the new website by clicking below and let me know what you think by leaving a comment on this post!  I'd love to hear from you...

Bryan & Krista

I have photographed Bryan and Krista before, and I am happy to say that I got another opportunity to photograph them again a few weeks ago! They are always willing models and uber fun to hang out with - enjoy!

Open Mike Night #44 - Photographing for Yourself

Hello Everyone,

I hope you have all had an amazing week!  The past few days have been filled with more learning and discoveries for me, and I really am excited about what the future holds.

You might have noticed a theme with my Journal posts this week...they are all landscapes.  Instead of talking business or showing more sessions (which I will post soon), I decided to have a theme this week that would support tonight's Open Mike Night.  That theme is taking photographs for yourself.

So many times we get wrapped up in providing our vision to everyone else except us, and yet, the very reason we became photographers was because we enjoyed taking pictures, probably just for fun.  Long before anyone ever paid me, I enjoyed photography for what it was.  It's an expression of what's in my heart and mind.  If my business closed tomorrow, I would still be a photographer because it's who I am.

As we get close to winter here in the west, many moody photographers artists go into some sort of weird funk.  They question their photography, their passion, their business, and on and on the list goes.  Why?  Perhaps it's because they lose focus of why they do what they do.

Take a few moments this next week and really make a commitment that you will photograph something purely for you.  No one has to like it, in fact, no one even needs to see it.  Just get out there and take photographs purely for fun.  You never know what might come from it...
